Thanks to HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” starring Waco, Texas, husband and wife Chip and Joanna Gaines, people from coast to coast are swooning over shiplap. This horizontal pattern of interlocking wooden boards was traditionally used to build sheds and barns, but Joanna’s shiplap is creating a buzz because she brings it indoors. Incorporating it into many of her designs, Joanna’s shiplap accents kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as foyers, hallways and stairwells — even ceilings.  A sturdy framing material that originated out on the prairie to withstand harsh climate conditions, shiplap is now used to add texture, interest and warmth in homes ranging from Craftsman to Modern style.
