And, while the 2020 TOH Cape Cod Idea House reveal was quite a bit different than previous years, the home (known as Cottage on the Cape) was nothing short of stunning…and Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods is proud to be a part of it!

While most viewers follow This Old House on PBS, the brand’s newer Idea House Build Series allows fans to join Pro2Pro Editor Chris Ermides as he chronicles two separate 2020 Idea House builds. Thanks to HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” starring Waco, Texas, husband and wife Chip and Joanna Gaines, people from coast to coast are swooning over shiplap. This horizontal pattern of interlocking wooden boards was traditionally used to build sheds and barns, but Joanna’s shiplap is creating a buzz because she brings it indoors. Incorporating it into many of her designs, Joanna’s shiplap accents kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as foyers, hallways and stairwells — even ceilings.  A sturdy framing material that originated out on the prairie to withstand harsh climate conditions, shiplap is now used to add texture, interest and warmth in homes ranging from Craftsman to Modern style.
